Neal Blaisdell Craft Fair: Busy Weekend! [10/25-26]

Hello, star shines!!!

If you read our blogpost about Lacy Veach Day, you would know that this past weekend was very very busy, we had to be at two places at once on Saturday!

Just kidding!! We had two separate teams for Lacy Veach and the first day of NBC's Seasonal Craft Fair.

It went fairly well, we had a lot of generous donators and people excited to open their new bristlebot packages at home! We also had some people from our team really brush up on their speaking skills.

Lacy Veach Day: New Creative Designs! [10/25]

 Hello, all!!

I decided to try more fun titles out. If any one reads this blog, tell me how it is, I might keep it up!

This past weekend, our team was in multiple places. One of these places was at Punahou school in Dillingham Hall in an impressively large chemistry classroom.

Was this classroom actually going to be used for chemistry? Nah. See, Lacy Veach, the astronaut and Punahou grad has an annual day dedicated to STEM education. So on this day, there is a lot of children and parents looking forward to--that's right--a bristlebot workshop!

Honestly before the children came in, our team of six was a little on the edge about the presentation we had prepped. Our presentation was about what we do and the mechanics of the bristlebot but in the end, everything was alright! Presentation did no harm.

After the presentation was time for everyone to assemble their bristlebots, we had a lot of cool designs we've never seen before. I'll put pictures below.

There was really no need to fuss in the beginning, the workshop was success. Everyone enjoyed their time building, they got to take their bots home. And we even made some sales to satisfied parents and students.

Thank you and see you next year, Lacy Veach!

Fall KRA [10/6-10/11]

こんにちは, viewers!!!

As you know, we held our annual Fall Kalani Robotics Academy this last week.

KRA setup was rocky, trying to find teachers, setting up kits, setting up the appropriate software, and keeping up with signups.

However, we had a successful turnout. Many people ended up signing up at the door so we know we really need to stretch the amount of available slots next time. Students and teachers closed up on Friday, satisfied with the productive week.

Here's some pictures!

Children's and Youth Day [10/5]

Hello, readers!

Here's a blogpost to tell you about our busy fall break.

The Sunday after we got out of school was Children's and Youth Day, we had our annual tournament downstairs in the Capitol and hosted three school and four teams.

Stevenson Middle School, Kapolei Elementary, and Hongwanji: you all did an excellent job! It was a lot of fun to see your bristlebots race down the tracks, compete in sumo and to hear your cheers! It was very spiriting and we appreciate your participation.

Congrats to all the teams for the awards received at the end, they were all well earned.

McKinely VEX Tournament, [9/20/14]

Say HELLO to the first blogpost of the school year!

Two of our teams, #3008K and #3008A both participated in the last VEX Tournament that could send us to VEX World's this year this weekend at McKinley high school, in the gym.

During qualifications, our teams ran into a few problems. #3008A's motor overheated  and wouldn't work and on of their solenoid cables had to be changed their claw wouldn't work.
#3008K had many problems with their drive train among many other things.

While #3008K did not make it past alliance selection, #3008A was picked by team #6292, the Patriots from the Christian Academy. Together, they chose #2437A, the Lancer Bots from Sacred Hearts Academy.

They advanced into quarter finals, then faced the very talented trio #1841A, the Buff'n Blue from Punahou; #3590A, Waialua; and #4109, 808 Robotics.

Good luck next time, teams! Hopefully this experience will help improve the future teams next year!

Small Apology

A small apology to those who read our blog! During the last few days of build, I didn't find time to update the blog and people got behind on their journals.

Our team recently went to the Alamo Regional we were prepping for. The pit looked good, the robot looked good and so we left a pretty good impression there. We were picked as an alliance by #118 Robonauts and #624 CRyptonite. Together, we became the new champions of the Alamo Regional.

We didn't earn any other awards but that's okay because everyone who won deserved it!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Texas!!
